CFB Playoff ContendersCFP Contenders for
Teams that are in Contention for the 2025 CFB Playoffs

The new 12 team College Football Playoff begins this season. The teams selected will be the five highest ranked conference champions and seven at large slots. The top four will almost certainly come from the P4 leagues with the last automatic bid coming from the G5. The top four teams will get a 1st round bye, which will likely be the champions of the SEC, Big Ten, ACC & Big 12. The seven at large will be strictly resume based, and can come from any team in any conference. It's assumed that most, if not all, at large slots will come from the 68 P4 teams, with an outside chance another one of the 68 G5 teams could be picked. The 'Longshots' category means a team can either still win their conference, or still play their way into an at-large bid. Here is my best guess on who's still alive for the CFB Playoff.

At this time there are still 62 Power Four teams realistically alive for the CFB Playoffs.
There are currently 50 Group of Five longshots, with another still alive for a NY6 Bowl Game.

6 Power Four teams in the last column still could technically play their way in so we can't quite rule them out yet.
As of week 5, 24 teams have already been eliminated, 6 Power Four teams and 18 Group of five teams.
